what does your company do? I am often asked, and it always seems a difficult question to answer. mainly because the questioner is looking for a bullet-point list of industry terms they can understand. and this company does not really operate within boundaries in that way. but there is a need to create some sort of definition, or statement of fact.
what this company does is best described as an approach, a goal, and a bunch of tools used to get there. technology is used as a tool to solve requests presented by business customers.
the areas of technology are typically mail, web and databases. the majority of these technologies I am involved in run on linux systems. however I have extensive, and certified, experience with deploying non-linux software and designs.
it is important that this company is not hung-up on delivering software from only a single vendor or source. not being a reseller leaves me free of the desire or temptation to skew advice in favour of commission revenue. one solution or vendor is rarely the best choice for all environments.
from working on a single website, to a full-blown ISP platform, I am happy to engage with projects of any size. I work in a fully mobile sense, across europe, so location is no barrier.
in addition to working for external clients, I also develop software tools that assist or automate processes in day to day tech environments. some of these I make available free to use under the open source license.
